Album Review: Chris Tomlin -Love Ran Red

Popular for his worship songs “Our God” and “How Great Is Our God”, try multiple Dove Award and Grammy Winner, this site  Chris Tomlin has created yet another masterpiece with his new album release Love Ran Red.

The album may be slightly different from what some fans are used to. However, regardless of the sounds Chris Tomlin included on the album, he still managed to give us the worship and praise songs we love so much. Not only did he give a spiritual resonance, it seems as though Chris Tomlin shared a little more of himself in this project and took a new approach.

The album paints a picture from beginning to end. “Greater” sets the tone for the album by giving a mid tempo worship build up. The hit single “Waterfall” follows with an increased pop influenced tempo increasing the momentum of the album.

Chris Tomlin “modernized” the traditional hymn At the Cross and showcases his gift to song-write with “At The Cross (Love Ran Red)”. Other songs like “Boundary Lines” and “The Roar” has an upbeat contemporary pop sound unlike previous songs on past albums.

The layout of Love Ran Redcan be compared to a roller-coaster effect due to the different variations of slow to fast paced songs that are played throughout the album. You can easily go from toe tapping to lifting your hands in worship.

Chris Tomlin- Love Ran RedSongs like “I Will Boast”, are beautiful lyrics that are accompanied by piano and other stringed instruments. Chris Tomlin talks about only boasting in the Cross because Jesus is the only one who took the nails to be sacrificed for mankind. “The Table”, a mid-tempo song, Chris Tomlin sings about  being invited and feasting at the table of the Lord where he will no longer hunger or thirst.

I personally like the album and believe it shows off Chris Tomlin’s (and his band’s) talent of being a gifted lyricist and sends a powerful message. What do you think? Is the album a buy or deny? Comment below and share your thoughts.

Album Review: Lisa Knowles and The Brown Singers |The Evolution Continues

LK and TBSWith their crisp harmony and fresh  sound, approved Lisa Knowles & The Brown Singers gives the usual traditional quartet sound along with various musical styles than past albums on The Evolution Continues(released March 2014).

Memphis Music Producer and Recording Engineer, order  Marque Walker, ailment helped produce the group’s album to give the songs a traditional yet contemporary sound. Don’t worry! The group held on to its quartet roots.

Songs like “Use Me”
is a contemporary track, but still has the traditionalism in the music. However, “God Do It”, which was the first single from the album, is a quartet foot stomper that was written by Knowles’ grandfather.

Then, there are songs  such as “What He’s Done For Me” and “Next In Line”, which are other traditional influenced tracks with a smooth, slow to mid-tempo and “This Too Shall Pass” which has a jazz sound .

The album is perfect for those who love group singing, harmony and traditional gospel with some contemporary sound.
